Rajma Masala

Rajma masala recipe is a popular red kidney bean curry.This recipe is popular as Rajma chawal .This is all time favorite in indian household.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rajma
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp tomatoe puree
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • salt, to taste
  • 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala

Instructions

  1. In a pressure cooker add the rajma, 2 cups water, turmeric, salt . Stir and cook on high for 1-2 whistle.
  2. Check if rajma is soft .
  3. Heat oil in a pan,once the oil is hot add cumin seeds . Saute for a minute.
  4. Add onions and cook for few minutes till light brown.next add bay leaves to it.
  5. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook till raw smell goes away. This will take 3-4 minutes.
  6. Once the ginger-garlic is done, add the fresh tomato puree and mix.
  7. Cover the pan and let it cook for 10 minutes on medium heat. Stir once or twice in between.
  8. After 10-12 minutes, the tomatoes are done when there’s no raw smell.
  9. Add the dry spices -turmeric powder, cumin powder coriander powder and red chilli powder. Also add the salt and mix.
  10. Cook the spices for few minutes.
  11. Add the cooked rajma and mix.
  12. Cover the pan and cook the rajma on medium-low heat for few minutes.
  13. Sprinkle some garam masala powder and then add heavy whipping cream.
  14. Also add chopped coriander leaves, mix.
  15. Serve hot with rice or any Indian bread.
