This is very healthy and tasty dish.It taste exactly like sarson ka saag,the very famous dish of Punjabi’s in India.I paired this dish with Bajra Roti,which really comes out yum.
For tempering the Palak Saag:1 medium sized onion, finely chopped enough for saag meant for 2 people1 small green chili1 tsp chopped ginger1-2 tbsp ghee/clarified butter
For the Palak Saag:2 bunch of spinach/palak1 large onion, chopped2-3 medium size tomatoes, chopped1 green chili, chopped1 inch ginger, chopped5-6 garlic, chopped1 tsp red chili powder2-3 tbsp butter or 1 or 2 butter sticks1 tbsp maize flour½ cup watersalt
Preparing the Palak Saag:1)Put Spinach/palak,onions, tomatoes, ginger-garlic-chili, butter, maize flour, salt and chili powder with water in a Pressure cooker)Wait for 7-8 minutes for whistles.
3)When cooled, blend the whole mixture smoothlyPreparing the Tempering :1)Take saute pan add ghee than onions and fry till light brown.2)Add browned onions into the bowl of saag.
3)Top the Palak saag with butter and serve with Bajra Roti.
